Super Flower Blood Moon and Lunar Eclipse – May 26, 2021

The astrological and astronomical worlds are buzzing about the Super Full Flower Blood Moon and Lunar Eclipse on May 26, 2021 – and with good reason!

There must be something deep in our psyche about Full Moons and their magical allure they bring to our busy lives – beckoning us to slow down and contemplate what affect this dramatic phase with our Earth, Sun and Moon might have to our busy post-Covid quarantine lives!

Four eclipses will occur this year, two of the moon and two of the sun. The first of these will take place during the early hours of Wednesday (May 26, 2021 at approx.. 4:13 PDT) when the full moon becomes completely immersed in Earth's dark umbral shadow, producing the first total lunar eclipse since January 2019. *

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is between the full moon and the sun, and ONLY occurs when there is a full moon! A supermoon means that the moon looks a bit bigger than usual since it is a bit closer to the Earth than usual. *

There will be another eclipse of the Moon – almost total (97%) that will be visible across all North America later this year, on November 19.

There is more terminology for this Full Moon on May 26^th, including the Blood Moon, because of its rich copper-ish color that is created during the eclipse, and the Flower Full Moon, because this is the time of year that so many flowers are blooming! Makes sense!

What may not make obvious sense is the astrological meaning behind the Full Moon with Sun in Gemini and the Moon in the opposite sign of Sagittarius. That astrological event happens once a year and signals prime time to communicate with each other and our “higher selves”!

 Just who is our “Higher Self”? 

Some refer to their higher self as their soul, or their intuition, or other identity that goes beyond material realms. Some rituals are practiced so as to link up with one’s “higher self” and receive insight that inspires growth and evolution - both individually and collectively.

At the time of the Full Moon Eclipse (approximately 4:13 a.m. Pacific Time), the Sun will be in the first house of the Self, and the Moon will occupy the 7^th House of Relationships – bringing the big theme of communication within our relationships to the surface – and shining the light on where there is tension and the need for balance.

With the eclipse, there can be sudden enlightenment and inspiration occur and often conveyed in dreams, or meditative states, including long quiet walks or even taking a shower. 

In this Full Moon we will see a clear picture of where we are, and a vision of where we want to be – and the two do not necessarily match up. We are helped by having (first) inner communication with our self to determine what we want and what we need in our relationships, whether at home, work or elsewhere.

Perhaps what you want and what you are now receiving are two different things, and it is time to part company and not continue with unfulfilling exchanges that do not support growth or nurturing for one another. 

Above all – the Full Moon is about enlightenment, and when Sun and Moon are in Sagittarius and Gemini – it doesn’t get much more enlightened than that!
